TG Drains can also install drainage pipe or sandslits using their Wizzwheel AFT 55. The Wizzwheel is able to install 50mm and 65mm drainage pipe in a 85mm wide trench or 80mm drainage pipe in a 100mm wide trench. This narrower trench allows the grass to cover the trenches quicker compared to a wider trench and reduces the time a playing field is out of action.
The Wizzwheel can also be used to install sandslits. Sand slitting is a term used to describe a series of closely spaced, narrow trenches which are backfilled with a highly permeable material such as aggregate and finished with a backfill of drainage sand to the surface. The sandslits usually connect with aggregate backfill ovrelying a system of latertal interceptor pipe drains situated deeper into the soil.
The tractor driving the sandslitter has been fitted with Trimble autosteer, ensuring the trenches are straight and accurately spaced.
